Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has disclosed plans by his administration to introduce electric-powered buses into the state’s transport system. This was made known at a thanksgiving carnival in the commercial city of Aba tagged “Promise Kept Carnival”. According to him, the buses have already been procured by the state.
Explaining further, the Governor said “you know the kind of buses you see abroad, those are the kind of buses you will see in Abia. The only difference is that these buses will not use petrol. It will not use gasoline. They will be electric buses”
Few months ago, Abia State Government flagged off the construction of modern bus terminals in the state’s major cities of Umuahia and Aba and a strategic partnership with Coscharis Motors. With these terminals nearing completion in few months coupled with the introduction of these electric buses, we could we witnessing a revamp and renewal of the state’s transport system and infrastructure.
Our ardent readers could recall Roxette Motors, an indigenous electric car manufacturer set up its factory in Abia State last year. And as we rightly pointed out here, Abia State is gradually positioning as a preferred location for sustainable and emerging mobility technology.
